There are two leads, but in GTA the story is always driven by the people around them. Rockstar introduced six of them early — and almost every one is about money.
Where these profiles come from
In May 2025, alongside the second trailer, Rockstar updated the game’s official site. Besides Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos it added short profiles of six supporting characters — with screenshots, quotes and a couple of paragraphs on each.
Below is a summary of those profiles and what we draw from them. The conclusions are marked as conclusions: until release, nobody but Rockstar knows how much screen time each character gets.
Brian Heder — the employer
Brian has been running drugs through the Leonida Keys since the eighties. These days he has stepped back and prefers others to do the dirty work — Jason included, whom Brian lets live rent-free in one of his properties in exchange for “help”. He lives at the boat yard with his third wife, Lori.
This is the classic GTA figure of the mentor who exploits you. Jason’s own profile says that after the army he settled in the Keys and works for local drug runners — which in practice means for Brian. It is reasonable to expect the opening chapters to be built around his errands, and that sooner or later Jason will want out. The question is whether Brian will let him go.

Cal Hampton — the friend
Cal is Jason’s friend and another of Brian’s associates. Rockstar paints him as a conspiracy-minded homebody who is happiest at home with a few beers and a radio tuned to Coast Guard chatter.
In Rockstar games, characters like this usually do two jobs at once: comic relief and technical support. A man who listens in on the Coast Guard is the ideal helper for people who move things by water. We would not be surprised if Cal turns out to be the pair’s “man in the chair” during jobs, much as Lester was in GTA V.
Boobie Ike and Dre’Quan Priest — the business
Boobie Ike is a Vice City local legend. He came up from the streets and built an empire out of real estate, a strip club and a recording studio, Only Raw Records. For Boobie it is all business — and business is good.
Dre’Quan Priest is his partner in the studio. Even while he was dealing on the street, he wanted to be a music mogul rather than a gangster. Now he is pushing his own artists and trying to turn Only Raw into a real label.
The “former street business, legitimate front” pairing is one of the most recognisable Vice City themes: in the 2002 Vice City, Tommy Vercetti bought clubs, a car showroom and a film studio. In GTA 6 that thread looks set to return through people rather than a property-buying system — though one does not rule out the other.
Real Dimez — the fame
Real Dimez are a rap duo, Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since high school. Social media made them famous, and Only Raw Records signed them. The cover of this article is an official shot from the Only Raw studio.
This is a direct line to the game’s central satirical theme. The first trailer was cut together from clips that look like viral videos, and judging by what has been shown, all of Leonida lives inside a phone. For Real Dimez, going viral is not a side effect but a profession. We looked at how this could work as a mechanic in our piece on fame and social media.
Raul Bautista — the big job
Raul is a seasoned bank robber: confidence, charm and the tactical skill of a professional. He is always looking for new talent and is willing to take risks others won’t.
Of all six, Raul is the most obvious candidate for the man who raises the stakes. In the trailers Jason and Lucia hold up convenience stores and bars; Raul is the next level, where the take is counted in stacks rather than notes. In GTA V that role belonged to the big heists, which are a large part of why the story is remembered. Raul looks like the door to jobs of that kind.

What ties all six together
Sort the characters by theme and you get three groups: Brian and Cal stand for the Keys and smuggling, Boobie and Dre’Quan with Real Dimez for Vice City and show business, Raul for professional crime. These look like three worlds the pair passes through as they climb from small jobs to big ones.
They share one thing: each of them wants something from Jason and Lucia. Brian wants free labour, Boobie wants profitable deals, Raul wants reliable partners. In a story about a couple trying to dig themselves out of debt and bad luck, there is no better way to test them. Which of these people turn out to be allies and which turn out to be trouble will become clear on 19 November.
